The Jigawa State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme on Monday, 08 December 2025, commenced the disbursement of over ₦1.856 billion as terminal and death benefits to 728 retirees and families of deceased civil servants.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held at the Pension Board Headquarters in Dutse, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Bilyaminu Shittu Aminu, said the payout covers gratuities, death benefits and death pension balances for beneficiaries across the state.

According to him, “More than ₦1.5 billion will be paid to 607 retirees, while about ₦300 million is earmarked for relatives of civil servants who died in active service.”

Dr. Bilyaminu further revealed that another batch of 25 retired civil servants who died shortly after retirement would soon have their benefits released to their next of kin.

He commended the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi, for his continuous commitment to workers’ welfare. “Governor Umar Namadi has been generous, steadfast and deeply sympathetic to the welfare of our aged citizens who gave selfless service to the development of Jigawa State,” he stated.

The Executive Secretary added that the present administration has injected billions of naira into the state pension scheme to ensure uninterrupted gratuity payments and prompt monthly pension settlements. He urged beneficiaries to invest their benefits wisely, particularly in viable ventures such as agriculture.

In their remarks, some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the state government for what they described as a timely and life-changing intervention. They noted that the payments would significantly improve their living conditions as retirees.
