The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested 11 suspected hoodlums following a violent attack on residents of Mariri in Kumbotso Local Government Area.
The suspects were apprehended around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, after reportedly unleashing terror on the community shortly after a local traditional festival.
In a statement released on Friday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, said the gang, armed with dangerous local weapons, attacked residents indiscriminately and dispossessed several of their belongings.
“They went on a rampage after attending a traditional festival, attacking anyone in sight and robbing them. They also invaded a Civil Defence outpost in Mariri, where they assaulted an officer and left him with a fracture. The incident occurred at about 0100hrs on Wednesday,” the statement read.
The arrested suspects include: Idris Muhd (20), Abubakar Shuaibu (24), Sagiru Hassan Yusuf (25), Idris Muhammad Morata (25), Anas Rabiu (23), Yahaya Muhd Yahaya (29), Khalid Idris (28), Mohd Adamu (19), Muktar Auwal Muktar (22), Salim Muktar (18), and Saifullahi Nuhu (18).
Operatives recovered six cutlasses and a pair of scissors during the operation.
According to the Corps, preliminary investigations have been completed, and the suspects will soon be charged to court.
The Kano State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
