The Kano State Police Command has arrested six suspects and recovered three stolen tricycles and five motorcycles during recent operations conducted by its Criminal Investigation Department (CID) across the state.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the arrests underscore the command’s determination to ensure public safety and security in Kano.
According to Kiyawa, two suspects — Nura Ibrahim (44) and Sunusi Bala (22) — were apprehended on Airport Road, Kano, while attempting to steal a tricycle. Investigations revealed that the suspects used intoxicants to facilitate their crimes.
Further investigations led to the recovery of two additional stolen tricycles in Katsina State, with the arrest of their accomplices, Bashir Muhd and Sunusi Musa.
In a related operation, the command also dismantled a motorcycle theft syndicate. Two suspects, Umar Isah (34) and Idris Isyaku (28), were arrested following intelligence-led operations that led to the recovery of five stolen motorcycles.
Kiyawa said the recovered items — comprising three tricycles and five motorcycles with various registration numbers — are currently in police custody.
He urged rightful owners to contact the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) on 07010161372 and present proof of ownership to reclaim their property.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, commended the CID team for their efforts and called on residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities.
For emergencies or information sharing, the police provided the following contact numbers: 08032419754, 08123821575, and 09029292926.
Kiyawa reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Kano State.
