The Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA) has stepped up its grassroots sensitization efforts with the launch of its Town Storming & Road Walk 2025 campaign in Dawakin Kudu, aimed at promoting enrollment into the state’s contributory healthcare scheme.

The colorful procession, themed “All Residents Must Be Enrolled,” moved from the Dawakin Kudu General Hospital to the Dawakin Kudu Market, drawing the attention of hundreds of residents along the route.

The walk featured music, cultural displays, and lively community mobilization, with youth groups, women’s associations, traditional institutions, market women, and community leaders marching in solidarity with KSCHMA’s mission.

At strategic points during the road walk, KSCHMA officials addressed the crowd, sensitizing them on the benefits of the contributory healthcare scheme and clarifying key issues related to access, enrollment, and service delivery.

Speaking during the event, the Director Administration and General Services, Hajiya Amina Sani Usman, who represented the Executive Secretary of KSCHMA, Dr. Rahila Aliyu Muktar, emphasized the importance of universal participation in the contributory healthcare scheme.

“Healthcare is a right, not a privilege. The contributory healthcare scheme ensures that every resident, regardless of social or economic background, has access to affordable and quality healthcare services. This campaign is about saving lives, protecting families, and strengthening communities,” she noted.

She further explained that the road walk is part of KSCHMA’s broader outreach strategy to ensure that no resident is left behind in the journey towards universal health coverage in Kano State.

Residents and traders at Dawakin Kudu Market praised the initiative, describing it as a practical and engaging way to bring healthcare awareness directly to the people. Many pledged to enroll themselves and encourage their families to join the scheme.

The event concluded with renewed calls for all residents to register under the contributory healthcare scheme, reinforcing KSCHMA’s commitment to a healthier Kano State.
