The Kano State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has pledged to work closely with the Kano Chamber of Commerce (KCC) in advancing the state’s trade and investment opportunities ahead of the forthcoming International Trade Fair.

The fair, which is expected to attract local and foreign investors, will showcase products from all 44 local government areas of the state to global markets.

Receiving the Chamber’s delegation during a courtesy visit in Kano, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Tajo Othman, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

He commended the Chamber’s role in strengthening commercial activities, describing it as a strategic partner in efforts to boost economic growth. Othman assured that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration is determined to implement policies that would stimulate industrialisation, entrepreneurship, and private sector expansion.

The Commissioner also urged the Chamber to support local councils in adopting technological innovations and industrial strategies that could unlock grassroots economic potential and drive sustainable growth across the state.

In his remarks, the President of KCC, Ambassador Usman Darma, emphasised the need for deeper collaboration with the 44 local governments to ensure the success of the international trade fair.

He noted Kano’s historical and strategic role as Nigeria’s commercial hub, stressing that the state accounts for nearly 50 percent of intercontinental trade connections. Darma urged the state to maximise benefits from key federal projects such as the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline and ongoing solar energy plants, which he said could create jobs, tackle youth unemployment, and accelerate inclusive development.

Both the Ministry and the Chamber expressed optimism that the partnership would not only strengthen Kano’s economic growth but also attract foreign direct investment and enhance the livelihoods of millions of residents across the state.
