The Kano State Police Command has unveiled a series of community-focused activities to mark the 2026 National Police Day, with a strong emphasis on strengthening public trust and collaboration.

Speaking ahead of the celebration themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” the Command said the initiative reflects its commitment to fostering closer ties with residents in maintaining peace and security across the state.

According to the Police, the programme—approved by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu—will kick off on Monday, March 30, 2026, with a sanitation exercise in Fagge Local Government Area, alongside community engagement and a medical outreach in Dakata.

Activities lined up for the week include a walkathon on March 31 along Abdullahi Wase Road, a live radio programme on Dala FM, and a visit to the Federal High Court in Kano. On April 1, the Command will engage students and staff of North-West University, followed by a football match at Sani Abacha Stadium.

The events will continue on April 2 with a roundtable discussion involving Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Community Liaison Officers (CLOs), as well as visits to major motor parks and markets across the state.

The Command noted that key stakeholders, including the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) and the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), will actively participate in the activities. Similar programmes are also expected to hold across all police divisions and area commands in Kano State.

The grand finale of the National Police Day celebration is scheduled for April 7, 2026, at Eagle Square in Abuja, where the Inspector-General of Police will lead dignitaries and stakeholders in a nationwide commemoration.

Reaffirming its dedication to public safety, the Kano State Commissioner of Police expressed appreciation to residents for their continued support, stressing that effective policing requires strong community partnership.

He also called on community leaders, stakeholders, and the general public to actively participate in the events, noting that collective efforts remain key to building a safer and more secure Kano State.
