The Kano State Government has taken a major step toward promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance with the inauguration of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Steering Committee.
The ceremony, held on April 1, 2026, at the Ministry for Public Procurement, Project Monitoring and Evaluation (MPPPME), brought together key stakeholders from government institutions, civil society organizations, and the media, reflecting the collaborative spirit of the OGP initiative.
In his welcome remarks, Permanent Secretary of MPPPME, Engr. Garba Adamu, commended Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf for his unwavering support in establishing the committee. Providing further insight, the Commissioner of MPPPME and Government Co-Chair of OGP, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, explained that the partnership is a global initiative designed to enhance citizen participation, inclusion, and openness in governance. He noted that the Steering Committee comprises equal representation from government and civil society, ensuring balance and shared ownership of the reform process.
