The Kano State Government, under the leadership of Abba Kabir Yusuf, has stepped up efforts to reduce urban congestion and boost commercial infrastructure through strategic engagement with key market stakeholders.
The Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Abduljabbar Mohammed Umar, led a high-level consultation with leaders of Yankaba Market, popularly known as the Vegetable Market, as well as representatives of the Na’ibawa Yan Lemo traders’ group.
The meeting forms part of the state government’s broader urban renewal strategy aimed at developing a modern, well-organized, and efficient market facility in Dangwauro.
Deliberations focused on gathering input, concerns, and practical recommendations from traders and market executives to ensure the proposed facility meets the needs of its primary users. Key priorities highlighted during the engagement included creating a more conducive business environment, improving market structure and organization, and ensuring smoother day-to-day operations for both traders and customers.
Market leaders commended the government’s inclusive consultation approach and expressed strong support for the initiative, pledging their full cooperation toward the successful execution of the project.
The initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to sustainable urban development, strengthened economic activities, and improved livelihoods for traders across the state.
