In the wake of the historic defection of the Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a former member of the Kano State House of Assembly representing Nasarawa Local Government Area, Honourable Ibrahim Ahmad Gama (Lugard), has officially joined the APC.

Honourable Gama, who also serves as a member of the Kano State Consumer Protection Council, described his defection as a well-considered political decision aimed at strengthening Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s leadership and consolidating Kano State’s alignment with the ruling party at the federal level.

He noted that the governor’s move to the APC is bold, timely, and patriotic, stressing that it will enhance Kano State’s political relevance, accelerate development, and attract increased federal presence and opportunities.

According to Honourable Gama, remaining in the NNPP at this critical juncture would not advance the political and developmental aspirations of the people of Kano State. He emphasized the need to join forces with the APC in order to fully support the governor’s progressive vision for the state.

Honourable Ibrahim Ahmad Gama (Lugard) pledged his total loyalty and unwavering support to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, affirming that he, alongside his entire political structure in Nasarawa Local Government Area, stands firmly and unconditionally with the governor.

He further called on party leaders, political stakeholders, and supporters across Kano State to unite, embrace the new political direction, and work collectively to ensure stability, unity, and electoral success for the APC in the state.

Honourable Gama concluded by stating that his defection marks the beginning of a broader political realignment that will strengthen governance and secure a more prosperous future for Kano State.
