Kano State Executive Council has approved a total expenditure of N8.53 billion for the execution of key development projects spanning infrastructure, health, education, water supply, agriculture, and environmental enhancement across the state.
The approvals were announced during a post-Executive Council briefing, where the government outlined decisions taken following deliberations on critical governance and policy matters.
According to the breakdown, the projects cut across multiple Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), with significant investments targeted at road construction, healthcare facilities, water treatment, education infrastructure, and compensation for affected communities.
Major approvals include over N1.7 billion for the construction of a two-coat surface dressed road from Chiromawa to Garun Babba in Garun Malam Local Government Area of Kano State, and N3.1 billion for the supply of non-ferrous aluminium sulphate (alum) to support water treatment for six months in 2026. The Council also approved N677.6 million for the reconstruction and renovation of Rogo General Hospital, which was recently damaged by a fire outbreak.
In the health sector, the government approved funds for the construction of an additional office complex and extension of wall fencing at the Primary Healthcare Board to enhance security, as well as the procurement of a brand new CT Scan Machine for the Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital.

In the agricultural sector, N830.2 million was approved as compensation to farmlands affected by the construction of five small earth dams across five local government areas.
On policy matters, the Council expressed deep dismay over the reported death of a female patient at the kano Abubakar Imam Urology Centre, where a pair of scissors was allegedly left in the patient’s abdomen during surgery. The Council condemned the incident as a grave act of negligence and assured the public that the ongoing investigation would be pursued to its logical conclusion. It further pledged that appropriate sanctions would be applied to all culpable individuals or institutions in accordance with the law, while extending condolences to the family of the deceased.
The Council also acknowledged the strategic importance of the AKK Gas Pipeline Project and approved the phased development of the AKK Industrial Layout in Tamburawa, with Phase I focusing on basic infrastructure and perimeter fencing.
Additionally, the Council noted persistent structural challenges at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Karaye and approved a comprehensive enhancement of the camp’s facilities to safeguard the welfare, security, and general wellbeing of corps members deployed to the state.
Kano State government reaffirmed its commitment to transparent governance, infrastructure development, and the protection of lives and property, assuring residents that the approved projects would be implemented in line with due process and public interest.
