The Kano State Health Trust Fund (KHETFUND) has reviewed the performance of its beneficiaries for the third and fourth quarters of 2025, as part of efforts to strengthen accountability and improve healthcare delivery in the state.

The review meeting, held in Kano, brought together key stakeholders in the health sector, including government officials, agencies, and development partners.

Speaking at the meeting, the Executive Secretary of KHETFUND, Dr Fatima Usman Zaharadeen, said the fund disbursed more than N2 billion to various agencies and educational institutions across the state during the period under review.

She explained that the disbursements were targeted at enhancing healthcare services and improving access to essential medical care for residents of the state.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, said KHETFUND was one of only three health trust funds currently operating in the country.

He stressed the commitment of the fund to ensuring that resources were disbursed to the appropriate beneficiaries, in line with established guidelines.

Yusuf commended KHETFUND for its transparency and accountability in fund management, and urged beneficiaries to properly retire the funds received to facilitate a smooth transition into the next financial year.

In separate remarks, a representative of the Kano State Contributory Health Care Management Agency (KASLMA), Alhaji Salim Salihu, and the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board, Prof. Ahmad Salisu, lauded the fund for the timely and effective release of funds.

They called on KHETFUND to give increased attention to less-privileged and vulnerable patients, especially those in need of emergency medical care in hospitals.

The meeting provided an opportunity for stakeholders to assess progress recorded so far and to strengthen collaboration toward improving healthcare services in Kano State.
