Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has retained its position as the second-best private university in Nigeria.
The Founder of the institution, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, disclosed this during the First Convocation Dinner organized in honour of the Class of 2025 graduating students at the university’s main campus.
According to him, the university remains steadfast in its mission to deliver quality education at an affordable cost.
“MAAUN is committed to providing quality education and academic excellence without placing unnecessary financial burden on parents and guardians,” Prof. Gwarzo said.
He reassured parents and guardians of the institution’s dedication to high academic standards and urged them to engage the university management constructively whenever issues raise.
“Parents should always channel their concerns through the appropriate university management channels for prompt resolution, rather than taking such matters to social media,” he advised.
Earlier in his remarks, the President of the university, Professor (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, welcomed parents, students, and invited guests, describing the convocation dinner as a landmark achievement in the history of the institution.
“This event marks a historic milestone for MAAUN as we celebrate the achievements of our first graduating class,” he stated.
The Vice President (Administration), Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar, congratulated the graduating students and expressed appreciation to all guests for honouring the occasion.
In a goodwill message, the Director of the European Centre for Leadership and Entrepreneurship Education, Professor Mahamouda Salouhou, commended Prof. Gwarzo for establishing the university.
“The establishment of MAAUN is a visionary initiative that will inspire more individuals to invest in education,” he said.
He also congratulated parents for choosing MAAUN, noting that the university has Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with reputable universities in the United States.
Similarly, Professor Hakeem Ibukunle of Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland, USA, congratulated the graduating students and their parents.
“This achievement is a testament to dedication, perseverance, and the Founder’s commitment to promoting education in Nigeria and beyond,” he remarked.
Speaking separately, parents Alhaji Sa’idu Bello and Abdulrahaman Sulaiman Bawa Zaria expressed gratitude to the Founder, management, and staff of the university for their mentorship and support.
“We sincerely thank the university for nurturing our children and guiding them to successful completion of their studies,” they said.
The convocation dinner provided an opportunity for students, management, parents, and invited guests to interact in a relaxed and celebratory atmosphere.
The event was enlivened by performances from popular musicians Hamisu Breaker and Ahmerdy Mai Kallabi, as well as spoken-word presentations. Guests were also treated to a wide selection of local and continental dishes, alongside assorted drinks and refreshments.
