The Kano State House of Assembly has called for the cancellation of the recently released cadet recruitment list by the Nigeria Customs Service Commission, describing the exercise as a “charade” that violates federal character principles.
The Assembly, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, expressed dismay over the recruitment process, saying it promotes nepotism and regional imbalance.
According to the released list, over 1,000 of the 1,785 fresh cadet officers were selected from the South, while the North received fewer than 540 slots.
The Assembly has urged Northern representatives in the National Assembly to intervene and halt the exercise, and called on the President to cancel the recruitment list, citing its partial and unbalanced nature [
