A coalition of youth associations in Kano State has thrown its weight behind the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, urging him to contest the 2027 governorship election under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The endorsement came during a grand event held at the Meena Event Center in Kano, where over 90 youth groups from across the state and the Northwest region gathered to celebrate Senator Jibrin’s achievements and leadership contributions.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Northwest Development Commission, Professor Shehu Abdullahi Maaji, described Senator Barau as a visionary leader committed to the welfare and progress of his people. He said the senator’s track record of development-oriented initiatives has earned him the admiration of many across the region.
Representing Senator Jibrin at the event, his Chief of Staff, Professor Mohammad Ibn Abdallah, highlighted several projects facilitated by the lawmaker, including the establishment of the Federal University of Education in Kano, the Federal University of Technology in Kabo, and a solar power project at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital. He also noted the implementation of Renewed Hope housing projects in the state through Barau’s efforts.
“People in Kano, both within and outside the APC, are calling for Senator Barau to contest for the governorship in 2027,” Abdallah said.
“The numerous projects he has brought to Kano and Northern Nigeria speak volumes of his commitment to development.”
He added that the growing calls from the public reflect their confidence in Senator Jibrin’s capacity and leadership, assuring that the Deputy Senate President would consider the appeal of his supporters at the appropriate time.
The youth groups pledged to mobilize massive support for Senator Barau should he emerge as the APC candidate in the 2027 governorship election.
