The Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, has officially commissioned the newly constructed Gidan Mari Community Health Post, a fully equipped facility built and donated by the Director General, Protocol Directorate, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo.
The commissioning ceremony took place in Rogo Local Government Area, attracting key stakeholders and community members.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Pharmacist Aminu Bashir, Dr. Yusuf described the new health post as a remarkable contribution toward strengthening healthcare delivery services, not only for the Gidan Mari community but for Kano State at large in a statement by the Spokesperson of the Ministry Nabulisi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa to thetentaclesnews.com.ng
He noted that the gesture demonstrates a shared commitment towards ensuring access to quality healthcare, particularly in underserved rural areas.
The Commissioner then commended the kind gesture of Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo for his dedication, generosity, which aligned with the state government’s ongoing efforts to upgrade primary healthcare infrastructure across the 44 local government areas, addind that the facility has been formally handed over to the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB) for effective management and utilization.
Dr. Yusuf further stated that the initiative was in harmony with the vision of the State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, to bring healthcare closer to the people and reduce the burden of preventable diseases at the grassroots. He emphasized that community participation and private sector support remain critical in sustaining progress in the health sector.
Also speaking at the event, the Director General, KSPHCMB, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, lauded the donor for the foresight and humanitarian Pointing out that establishing such facilities not only enhances healthcare access but also provides employment opportunities for local residents, thereby contributing to socioeconomic development.
While delivering remarks, a representative of the project committee, Malam Isyaku Bature, revealed that Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo has so far built two healthcare facilities within Rogo Local Government Area a testament to his enduring commitment to community development and public welfare.
Residents of Gidan Mari expressed heartfelt appreciation to the donor and the state government, describing the facility as a timely intervention that would ease their long-standing challenges in accessing medical services. The event concluded with the formal commissioning of the edifice and an inspection tour of the new facility by dignitaries, traditional rulers, and community leaders.
