The Shura Council has announced that preparations are underway to summon Sheikh Lawan Abubakar Truimp to appear before its committee to defend himself against allegations of blasphemy currently under investigation.
This was disclosed by the Secretary of the Committee, Shehu Wada Sagagi, during a press briefing held in Kano .
According to Sagagi, the Council is conducting thorough investigations into the claims and counterclaims of blasphemous statements allegedly made by Sheikh Truimp.
He stated that once the preliminary phase of the investigation is concluded, the cleric will be officially invited to present his side of the story before the committee.
“The Shura Council is working assiduously to ensure that justice is served. We are committed to giving all parties involved a fair and impartial hearing,” Sagagi said.
He urged all stakeholders to avoid unnecessary sentiments and instead embrace honesty and objectivity, emphasizing the importance of peace and harmony in the society.
Sagagi also reiterated that the Kano State Government will maintain a neutral stance in the matter, assuring the public that the process will be conducted with transparency and fairness.
“The government is not taking sides, and we want the people to have full confidence that due process will be followed,” he added.
The controversy surrounding Sheikh Truimp has sparked significant public discourse in recent weeks, with religious and civil society groups calling for careful handling of the matter to prevent unrest.
The Shura Council, a religious consultative body in Kano State, is tasked with addressing issues related to Islamic teachings, clerical conduct, and social harmony within the Muslim community.
Further developments are expected as the committee continues its investigations.
