The Kano State Police Command has confirmed that the ongoing 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is progressing peacefully across all designated Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres in the state.

The examination, conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), began on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, and is scheduled to run through Sunday, April 26, 2026, between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, had deployed adequate security personnel to ensure a hitch-free exercise.

He explained that the deployment, carried out in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, includes conventional officers, tactical units, and undercover operatives stationed at CBT centres and other strategic locations.

“So far, all security measures put in place are working effectively, ensuring a safe and orderly environment for candidates,” Kiyawa stated.

According to him, the security architecture covers access control, crowd management, intelligence-driven surveillance, and 24-hour patrols along routes leading to examination centres.

He added that traffic officers have also been mobilised to ease movement, while collaboration with agencies such as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of State Services (DSS), and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has further strengthened operations.

The Commissioner of Police expressed satisfaction with the conduct of candidates and commended parents, guardians, and examination officials for their cooperation and professionalism.

CP Bakori, however, warned that the Command would take decisive action against anyone involved in examination malpractice, impersonation, extortion, or any act capable of disrupting public peace.

“The Command remains fully committed to safeguarding lives and property throughout the examination period,” he said.

The Police also urged residents to continue supporting security efforts by providing timely and credible information. Emergency lines have been made available, including 08032419754, 08123821575, and 09029292926, as well as the “NPF Rescue Me” application.

The Command wished all candidates success in their examinations while reaffirming its commitment to ensuring the UTME concludes smoothly in Kano State.
