Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Tuesday conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the Tamburawa Water Treatment Plant in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, as part of efforts to address the persistent shortage of potable water across the state.
The inspection visit underscores the administration’s renewed commitment to improving water supply, particularly in Kano metropolis and adjoining communities that rely heavily on the facility.

Speaking during the visit, Governor Yusuf emphasized the importance of firsthand evaluation in understanding the challenges affecting critical infrastructure. “It is important for us to come here and see things for ourselves.
This will guide us in taking the right decisions to restore efficient water supply to our people,” he said.
Tamburawa Water Treatment Plant, one of the major sources of water supply in the state, has faced several operational and infrastructural setbacks over the years, resulting in inconsistent water distribution to residents.
During the tour, the governor inspected key sections of the plant and engaged with engineers and operational staff to identify pressing issues hindering optimal performance.
He assured that his administration would take decisive steps to address the challenges.
“We are determined to ensure that this facility and others like it function effectively.
Access to clean and safe water is not a luxury but a necessity for every citizen,” Governor Yusuf added.
The visit forms part of a broader strategy by the state government to rehabilitate essential public utilities and strengthen service delivery systems. The initiative is aimed at ensuring sustainable access to clean water while enhancing the overall quality of life for residents.
Residents have long expressed concern over irregular water supply, and the government’s renewed focus on revamping key infrastructure is expected to bring relief to affected communities.
The inspection signals a proactive approach by the Yusuf administration in confronting infrastructure deficits and delivering practical solutions to the people of Kano State.
