The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, has officially resigned from his position, according to a statement released by the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
In the statement signed by the movement’s spokesperson, Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, the resignation was described as a difficult but necessary decision taken in the overall interest of the people and to ensure stability in governance across the state.
The statement explained that recent developments had significantly limited the Deputy Governor’s ability to fully discharge the responsibilities and expectations attached to his office. As a result, it became essential to step aside and allow the office to function more effectively in service of the public.
It further clarified that Gwarzo’s resignation should not be interpreted as an admission of the allegations levelled against him by the Kano State House of Assembly. The former Deputy Governor, according to the statement, maintains his innocence and remains confident that his record in office reflects integrity, dedication, and commitment to public service.
The move was also framed as an act of statesmanship, aimed at promoting peace, political maturity, and preventing unnecessary tensions that could disrupt governance and development in Kano State.
Looking ahead, Gwarzo is expected to focus more on strengthening the Kwankwasiyya Movement. The statement noted that he plans to play a key role in reorganising the group’s structures, refining its strategies, and engaging in political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The movement reaffirmed its commitment to people-oriented leadership, social justice, and sustainable development, while calling on its supporters and residents of Kano State to remain calm, law-abiding, and supportive of democratic ideals.
