Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commissioned a newly constructed Jumu’at Mosque at the Kano State Government House, reinforcing his administration’s dedication to promoting religious observance and moral values.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, in Kano.
According to the statement, the mosque was built to provide a serene and conducive environment for staff and visitors at the Government House to observe their daily and Friday prayers in comfort and peace. The project also underscores the administration’s broader commitment to supporting religious affairs and fostering virtues such as honesty, trustworthiness, and peaceful coexistence among citizens.
The maiden Jumu’at prayer at the mosque was led by the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, who delivered a moving sermon emphasizing the importance of supporting the poor and vulnerable, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan and beyond.
The Emir described the construction of a mosque as a form of Sadaqatul Jariyah—a continuous charity that yields lasting rewards for both the benefactors and the wider community in this life and the hereafter. He urged worshippers to make effective use of the facility by attending prayers regularly, maintaining its cleanliness, and contributing to the sustainability of its activities.
He further called on the faithful to use the mosque as a center for spiritual growth, prayers for peace, progress, and unity in Kano State and the nation at large.
The commissioning ceremony attracted top government officials and dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Isma’il Falgore; the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim; Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa; the Saudi Consul-General in Kano, Khalid Ahmad Aladhamawi; commissioners; and other senior government functionaries.
