The Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Sani Musa (APC–Niger East), has called on Nigerian Muslims to use the holy month of Ramadan to demonstrate the true virtues of Islam through exemplary conduct.
In a goodwill message made available to newsmen in Kano on Wednesday, the lawmaker emphasised the importance of kindness, love for humanity, and shunning all forms of evil during the sacred period.
“Let us use this opportunity to put the best teachings of Islam into practice, such as kindness and love for humanity,” Musa said.
“This is an occasion for deep reflection, greater fear of Allah, and avoidance of all evils that harm humanity.”
He explained that Ramadan fosters unity and equality, as both the rich and the poor experience hunger together, strengthening the bond between different segments of society.
“As we begin this 30-day fasting season, let us remember that Ramadan is not only about abstaining from eating and drinking, but also a reminder to refrain from all kinds of evil and transgressions that harm humanity,” he stated.
Musa noted that the act of fasting from dawn to dusk serves as a powerful reminder of the struggles faced by the less privileged and should inspire generosity.
“As we observe this important occasion in the spiritual life of Muslims, let us share food and drink with the less fortunate, for by sharing our blessings with others, Allah will multiply our rewards for good deeds,” he added.
The senator also urged Muslim faithful to offer prayers for the nation’s leaders, particularly President Bola Tinubu, for wisdom and guidance in steering the country towards good democratic governance.
“I am appealing to Muslim worshippers to pray for President Bola Tinubu and other leaders to ensure good democratic governance,” Musa said.
