The Kano State Police Command has extended warm greetings to the Muslim Ummah as the Holy Month of Ramadan begins, assuring residents of comprehensive security arrangements to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free fasting period across the state.
Under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the Command said it has activated robust security strategies in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
In anticipation of increased movements and large gatherings, particularly during Tarawih prayers, the Command advised worshippers to avoid carrying unnecessary items to mosques and other prayer grounds. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
The Police also called on members of the public to strictly obey traffic rules and regulations throughout the fasting period. Parents and guardians have been cautioned against allowing underage children to operate vehicles or motorcycles and are advised to ensure that minors are accompanied by responsible adults at all times.
The Command further warned against engaging in prohibited activities such as unlawful gatherings, horse riding in restricted areas, the use of fireworks, and any form of disorderly conduct. It stressed that acts of thuggery will not be tolerated, noting that perpetrators will face decisive legal action.
Residents are encouraged to cooperate fully with security agencies and make use of available emergency channels to report incidents. These include emergency numbers: 08032419754, 08123821575, and 09029292926, as well as the NPF Rescue Me App and the Command’s verified social media platforms.
The Commissioner of Police wished the Muslim faithful a successful and spiritually fulfilling Ramadan, expressing appreciation for the continued support and cooperation of the public in maintaining peace and security across Kano State.
